.300 AAC Blackout ballistics chart

Overview

The .300 AAC Blackout puts .30-calibre bullets into an unmodified AR-15 - same magazines, same bolt, just a new barrel. The supersonic loading drives a 110-135 grain bullet around 2,150-2,350 fps from a 16-inch barrel, giving ballistics broadly similar to 7.62x39mm and enough energy for deer and hogs inside 200 yards.

Its other half is the 190-220 grain subsonic loading at roughly 1,000 fps, which is exceptionally quiet suppressed but drops like a stone past 150 yards. Either way the Blackout is a short-barrel, short-range carbine cartridge: the supersonic load shown here goes transonic in the 400-500 yard band and was never intended to reach further.

Typical uses: Suppressed and short-barrel AR-15 carbines, home defence, and hog and deer hunting inside 200 yards.
