Overview

The 7mm Remington Magnum pairs high-BC 7mm bullets with belted-magnum powder capacity to produce a flat-shooting, hard-hitting hunting cartridge with genuine long-range legs. A 160-175 grain bullet leaves the muzzle near 2,900-3,000 fps and carries energy and wind resistance well past 600 yards.

It is a proven all-round choice for open-country and mountain hunting, at the cost of stout recoil and shorter barrel life than a standard cartridge. Modern 7mm PRC and 28 Nosler chase the same goal with less brass drama, but factory ammunition and rifles for the 7mm Rem Mag are available everywhere.

Typical uses: Mountain and plains big-game hunting, and long-range field shooting where flat trajectory matters.
